Candied Kielbasa Bites

These Candied Kielbasa Bites are the ultimate party appetizer—salty, smoky, and coated in a sticky-sweet glaze with a hidden “kick” from the horseradish.
The Hasselback slicing technique is the real secret here; by creating those small slits in the sausage, you increase the surface area for the brown sugar and ketchup to seep inside, ensuring every single bite is packed with caramelized flavor.
Ingredients:

- Amount
- Kielbasa sausage
- 2 lbs
- Brown sugar
- 1 cup
- Ketchup
- 1/2 cup
- Prepared horseradish
- 1/4 cup
How to Make Candied Kielbasa Bites:
Step 1: The Prep and Slice: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Slice the kielbasa into 1-inch rounds.
Tip: To get that perfect “Hasselback” look, place each piece between two chopsticks. When you slice down, the sticks will stop your knife, leaving the bottom of the sausage intact while creating three or four thin slats on top. This makes the bites look gourmet and helps them “bloom” in the oven!
Step 2: Sauce and Season: Place the sliced kielbasa into a baking dish. Add the brown sugar, ketchup, and horseradish directly to the pan. Stir well until the sausages are fully coated and the sugar begins to dissolve into the ketchup.
Step 3: The Long Bake: Bake for 60/90 minutes.
Tip: Don’t just “set it and forget it!” You must stir the bites every 20 minutes. This redistributes the bubbling sugar and prevents the edges from burning while ensuring the sauce reduces into a thick, candy-like glaze that clings to the meat.
Step 4: Serve: Remove from the oven once the sauce is dark and syrupy and the sausage edges are slightly charred. Serve warm with toothpicks.
