Grandpa’s Special Passenger: A Doll Named Abbie

Sometimes the sweetest memories are made in the simplest ways. Last night, 9-year-old Joselyn asked her grandpa for a little favor:

“Can you babysit Abbie for me tomorrow?”

Who’s Abbie? …Her doll. 😂

Joselyn explained that Abbie had always wanted to “go trucking with Grandpa.” So, being the loving grandfather he is, he agreed without hesitation.

A Trucking Adventure With a Twist

The next morning, Grandpa made sure to keep his promise. Before he even left the house, Joselyn reminded him: “Don’t forget Abbie!”

And so, Abbie hopped on board the big rig for her very first trucking adventure.

Grandpa could have just tossed the doll in the sleeper and carried on with his day. But instead, he decided to make the experience special. At every stop, along every stretch of road, he took pictures of Abbie enjoying the ride—whether it was sitting up front in the cab, gazing out the window, or resting during pit stops. 📸

Joselyn’s “Instructions”

Back at home, Joselyn wasn’t about to let Grandpa off easy. All day long she sent him little “instructions” through Facebook—reminders about taking care of Abbie, what she liked, and how she was doing on the road. It was a game, but also a moment of connection that made both Grandpa and Joselyn’s day brighter.

A Day to Remember

By the time the trip was over, it wasn’t just Abbie who had a great day. Grandpa and his granddaughter had created a memory that will last forever. They even managed to bring smiles to the people who saw the photos along the way.
