These fudgy healthy banana brownies are rich, chocolatey, and naturally sweetened with ripe banana for the ultimate better-for-you treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 large ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips, plus 2 tablespoons for drizzling
  • 1 banana, sliced into rounds for topping
  • Flaky sea salt, for finishing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, nut butter, maple syrup, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Add the cocoa powder, oat flour, baking powder, and salt, then stir until fully combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Top with banana slices, lightly pressing them into the surface.
  5. Bake for 22-28 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is just cooked through.
  6. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan. Melt the extra chocolate chips and drizzle over the top.
  7. Finish with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt, then slice into squares and serve.

Tip: Use very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots for the sweetest flavor and fudgiest texture.
